Composer Biography
Ēriks Ešenvalds, an award-winning Latvian composer, studied at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in Riga and was also a member of the Latvija State Choir.
Compositional Technique
Ešenvalds's choral works are primarily unaccompanied, though some feature brass band, saxophone quartet, percussion, or orchestral accompaniment, with textures ranging from three to twelve voice parts.

The Latvian Radio Choir, a full-time professional chamber choir founded in 1940, has been led by Chief Conductor Sigvards Kļava and Conductor Kaspars Putniņš since 1992.
