Composer Biography
Leo Fall married Rahel Raphaéle, also known as Bertha, the sister of his publisher Alexander Jadassohn, and she considered Frau Denise one of her favorite works throughout her life.

Leo Fall's one-act work Frau Denise was composed specifically for a small ensemble of thirteen actors, five operetta members, and a 27-member orchestra at Berlin's Intimes Theater.
Composition History
Despite its short run of ten days, the music publisher Alexander Jadassohn purchased Frau Denise, and it was later published under the new title Paroli.

Leo Fall, the composer, came from a highly musical family where music was a constant presence; his father was a military bandmaster and his brothers were also composers.
