Vince DiMartino, the trumpet soloist on this recording, is a Distinguished Matton Professor of Music at Centre College and a Distinguished Valade Professor of Trumpet at the Interlochen Center for the Arts.

This album is a compilation of selections previously released on ELF Records, with recordings made between 1984 and 1999 at Indiana State University and Kent State University.

Fisher Tull's "Sketches on a Tudor Psalm" is based on a 16th-century setting of the Second Psalm by Thomas Tallis, which is still used in Anglican services today.
