Composer Biography
Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari, born in Rovereto, Italy, in 1763, moved to London in 1792 to escape the French Revolution and lived there until his death in 1842.
Compositional Technique
Ferrari's duets for piano and harp often allowed for performance with two pianos or with piano and harp, as the writing style was similar and easily adaptable.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Ferrari held Haydn and especially Mozart in the highest regard, calling Mozart "a Demigod," and was critical of the "latest musical tendencies" of his contemporaries.
Composition History
The project to create a critical and recording edition of Giacomo Gotifredo Ferrari's works was launched on the 250th anniversary of his birth in 2013.

Instruments
The recording features an 8-pedal Érard harp from 1811/20 and a Weiss fortepiano from around 1800, both original instruments from Ferrari's era.
