All the works on this album were composed by Gustav Holst specifically for the pupils of St Paul's Girls' School, where he was Musical Director.

This album includes the world premiere recording of Holst's Seven Choruses from the Alcestis of Euripides and the first professional recording of The Vision of Dame Christian.
