Shards, the vocal group on this album, was formed in 2016 for collaborations with Nils Frahm at his 'Possibly Colliding' festival at the Barbican.

Almost all of this album was recorded in Italy at Palazzo Stabile, a tranquil house and studio in the Piedmontese countryside, during a two-week residency.
