Composer Biography
Jean Françaix, born in Le Mans, France, was familiar with music from his earliest childhood, as his father was the director of the local conservatoire.

The second concert grand piano used for this CD production was funded by Internationale Künstlerinnenstiftung Die Höge and Forelle blau.

One of Jean Françaix's paradoxes was that his compositions, though difficult to perform, were easily accessible and intended to 'give pleasure' to the listener.

Jean Françaix premiered his Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in 1965 in Maastricht with his daughter Claude as the other soloist.
