Frano Parac's opera "Judita" was premiered on July 14, 2000, at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, coinciding with the 550th birthday of the poet Marko Marulic and the 1700th anniversary of Split's founding.

Frano Parac, like Marko Marulic, the author of the epic "Judita," is from Split, Croatia, and studied music theory and composition in Zagreb.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Frano Parac consciously chose to use old Croatian from the original epic for his opera's libretto, rather than modern Croatian, to stay as close as possible to the source material.
Compositional Technique
In his opera "Judita," Frano Parac uses compositional techniques similar to Minimal Music, employing monotonous rhythms and repeated melodic phrases to express stagnation and passivity.
Performer Biography
Ivan Repušic, the Croatian conductor, began his career at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, where he served as Chief Conductor and Opera Director from 2006 to 2008.
