Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven were contemporaries in Vienna, but Beethoven was a generation older and already at his career's peak when Schubert began composing.

Schubert's private musical gatherings, known as 'Schubertiades', began in 1819 and became the primary venue for him to present his compositions to friends.

This album was recorded at the Church St. Idda in Bauen, Switzerland, in November 2022.
