Composition History
Franz Schubert was inspired to use Swedish folk songs as themes for his Piano Trio in E flat major D929 after hearing the Swedish singer Isak Albert Berg perform them in Vienna.
Interpretation
This recording features four different fortepianos from the Biedermeier period, including a Bösendorfer (labelled "Besendorfer") heard in two different acoustic environments.
