George Gershwin, the composer, was only 20 years old when his first musical comedy, La, La, Lucille, was produced on Broadway in May 1919.

Leopold Godowsky III, the pianist on this recording, is George Gershwin's nephew and the grandson of the legendary pianist/composer Leopold Godowsky.
Composition History
Gershwin's sister, Frances Gershwin, commissioned José Serebrier to orchestrate the Three Piano Preludes and the early Lullaby for this Centenary recording.
