Giuseppe Tartini, the composer of these violin concertos, died in 1770, the same year Ludwig van Beethoven was born.

Compositional Technique

Tartini composed an impressive amount of music for the violin, including 135 concertos, 200 sonatas, and 40 trio sonatas.

This recording was made in October 2019 at Dada Studio in Brussels, with Rainer Arndt handling artistic direction, recording, and editing.

Cultural Impact

Tartini's reputation was significantly boosted by the famous story of his dream, where the devil supposedly suggested musical ideas to him, leading to his 'Devil's Trill' sonata.

Tartini's early life included training as a swordsman, a secret marriage to a violinist related to the Bishop of Padua, and a period of hiding in a convent in Assisi.
