Jeroen van Veen was awarded the NPO Radio 4 2016 Award for his efforts in promoting classical music beyond concert halls, particularly through his 'lie-down' (ligconcert®) concerts.

Composition History

The original set of Philip Glass's Etudes, later renumbered as Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 10, was composed for Dennis Russell Davies, a conductor, on the occasion of his 50th birthday in 1994.

This recording of Philip Glass's Complete Piano Etudes was made in February 2017 at Van Veen Productions, Studio II, in Pernis, The Netherlands, using a Yamaha Grand Piano C7.

Composer's Artistic Vision

Philip Glass composed his twenty Piano Etudes between 1991 and 2012 with a dual purpose: to explore various piano techniques and to improve his own piano playing.
