Interpretation
The Hamlet Piano Trio chose to perform Mendelssohn's piano trios on an Erard piano and with gut strings and bows to discover how they would have sounded to Mendelssohn himself.
Performer Biography
Candida Thompson, the violinist of the Hamlet Piano Trio, has been the artistic leader of Amsterdam Sinfonietta since 2003, developing it into a prominent chamber orchestra.

Xenia Jankovic, the Serbian-Russian cellist of the Hamlet Piano Trio, made her solo debut with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra at age nine and won the prestigious 'Gaspar Cassado Cassado' concourse in Florence in 1981.
Performer Biography
Paolo Giacometti, the Dutch-Italian pianist of the Hamlet Piano Trio, plays both modern and period instruments and received an Edison award in 2004 for his Rossini project.

The recording features an Erard piano from 1837, which is part of the collection of Edwin Beunk.
