Composition History
The three Petrarca sonnets were composed in 2011 for a lied program with Gesche Geier, the soprano on this album, as an homage to Franz Liszt during the Liszt year.
Performer Biography
Gesche Geier, the soprano, and Hans Martin Gräbner, the pianist and composer, first met in 2003 during the premiere of Gräbner's opera "Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot," where Geier sang the role of Schneeweißchen.

The "Drei mal Drei Lieder" cycle was commissioned by a Bremen Masonic Lodge in 2011, inspired by the composer's ten-year engagement with Masonic philosophy.
