Martin Sieghart, the conductor, is a versatile musician who has been a principal cellist of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and founded several festivals, including 'Mozart in Reinsberg' and 'EntarteOpera'.
Recording & Production
The cadenza for the first movement of Haydn's concerto on this album was composed by Sergio Rendine, an internationally recognized composer who passed away in April 2023.
Composition History
Both Haydn's and Hummel's Trumpet Concertos were written for Anton Weidinger, a Viennese trumpeter, to showcase the newly invented keyed trumpet.
Instruments
The keyed trumpet, for which both concertos were written, allowed performers to play chromatic notes with greater precision, a significant advancement over the natural trumpet.
Composer Biography
Hummel composed his Trumpet Concerto during his tenure as court composer to Prince Esterházy, a position he inherited from Joseph Haydn.
