Christopher Warren-Green, the conductor, has conducted numerous concerts for the British Royal Family, including at Buckingham Palace and for HM The Queen's 80th birthday.

This album, LCO Live Haydn Mozart Beethoven, was recorded live at St. John's, Smith Square, London, with the Haydn and Mozart pieces recorded in 2007 and the Beethoven in 2008.

Rosemary Furniss, the LCO Artistic Director and Concertmaster, was a founder pupil of the Yehudi Menuhin School and a protégée of Lord Menuhin, with whom she performed as soloist.

Melvyn Tan, the soloist and director for the Mozart concerto, built his international reputation through performances and recordings on the fortepiano, including complete Beethoven Concertos and Sonatas.

Historical Context

The orchestra for Haydn's Paris Symphonies was unusually large for the time, featuring 40 violins and eight double basses, double the size of his Esterházy orchestra.

Mozart described his Piano Concertos Nos. 11-13 as lying "midway between what is too difficult and too easy", designed to satisfy both connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs.
