Interpretation
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet includes a cadenza for Sonata No. 30 (Hob. XVI: 19) written by Zoltán Kocsis, which subtly darkens the otherwise serene atmosphere of the Andante.

Pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet discovered an unpublished, crossed-out cadenza in Haydn's autograph manuscript for the F minor Variations, which is included as an appendix on this disc.

Pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet chose not to present Haydn's sonatas in chronological order, instead creating "bouquets" of works that are coherent and complementary.

Performer Biography
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, the pianist on this album, was invited by Sir Georg Solti to make his debut with the Orchestre de Paris in 1995 and is considered the Maestro's last discovery.
