When Haydn handed over the manuscript for the two finished movements of Op. 103, he remarked, 'It is my last child, but it still looks like me'.

Composition History
Haydn's Op. 77 string quartets, composed in 1799, consist of only two quartets, which was unusual as his quartets were mostly published in sets of six.
Instruments
The Maggini Quartet's name comes from Giovanni Paulo Maggini, a famous 16th-century Brescian violin maker, an example of whose work is played by David Angel.
Composition History
Haydn's Op. 103 is his last composition and remains unfinished, with only two movements completed due to his failing physical powers.
