Heino Eller (1887-1970) is considered the central figure in the development of Estonian classical instrumental music.

Historical Context

During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, Heino Eller had to adopt a radically simplified and folkish instrumental style to conform to 'Socialist Realism'.

This album is part of the first-ever recording project of Heino Eller's complete piano works, which will span nine albums and cover all 206 compositions.
