The Concert Humoresques, Op. 14, created between 1885-1887, are divided into two books: 'à l'antique' referencing Mozart, Bach, and Scarlatti, and 'moderne' with no direct compositional inspirations.
Composer Biography
Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941), the composer, was also an excellent pianist who consciously exploited the full possibilities of the piano in his works.
Cultural Impact
Paderewski's Minuet in G major, Op. 14 No. 1, brought him much fame by the end of the 19th century and was recorded by pianists like Sergei Rachmaninoff.
