Heinz Holliger's work 'ALÈH STAVÌ' (Hebrew for 'Autumn Leaf') was written in memory of the siblings Eliška and Gideon Klein, with Gideon dying in the Holocaust at age 25.
Composer Biography
Sándor Veress was a pupil of both Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály, and his most important pupils in Budapest were György Ligeti and György Kurtág.
Compositional Technique
György Kurtág, a pupil of Sándor Veress, primarily wrote short to extremely short pieces, which are described as 'musical diagrams' that use few elements to explore profound questions.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Sándor Veress, a significant composition teacher, was interested in the 'complexity of the simple' — how to create great music with few elements and make everything audible.

This album is a coproduction with Radio SRF 2 Kultur and was recorded from June 29 to July 2, 2022, at the Radiostudio in Zurich.
Compositional Technique
Roland Moser's piece, '…wie ein Walzer auf Glas…', is composed almost entirely of harmonics, creating a waltz-like impression with minimal fluctuations in tone-colors and intonation.
