Composition History
Jolivet completed his Cinq Incantations in temporary summer quarters at the Château des Griottes, a large, empty house where his family spent their summer holiday.

Jolivet considered the fourth Incantation, 'For a pure communion of the being and the world,' one of his most important pieces due to its lyricism and philosophical ideas, which approached Teilhard de Chardin's philosophy.
