1/7Recording & Production
This album includes some of Shakespeare's dialogue with the music, and also repeats the orchestral sections without dialogue at the end of the disc.
Interpretation
The orchestra on this recording is the same size as the one Korngold used for the 1920 premiere, featuring a string quartet rather than a full string section.
Interpretation
The performers were able to replicate the original bowings and articulations from the 1920 Vienna premiere because they had access to the original parts.
Recording & Production
This recording attempts to reconstruct the complete work of Korngold's Much Ado about Nothing, including some music that has never been published.
Recording & Production
The composer's grandson, Leslie Korngold, provided recordings made by the composer to help determine tempo and portamento for this album.
Recording & Production
The recording used color photocopies of the original orchestral materials and an annotated conductor's score from the Austrian National Library to inform its performance.
Composition History
Erich Wolfgang Korngold, the composer, was only 21 years old when his incidental music for Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing premiered in Vienna in 1920.
