Natalia Gordeyeva, the violinist on this album, founded the first private music academy in Ukraine, Music Arts Academy, in Kyiv in 2014.

Performer Biography
Ukrainian violinist Natalia Gordeyeva, born and raised in Kyiv, fled to Copenhagen after the war broke out and has since performed for the Danish Parliament, Prime Minister, King Frederik, and Queen Mary.

Composer Morten Jessen began writing KYIV shortly after the war began, inspired by the courage and strength of Kyiv's defenders.

The composition KYIV was created as a cross-cultural collaboration between Danish composer Morten Jessen, who had never been to Ukraine, and Ukrainian refugee violinist Natalia Gordeyeva.
