The Symphonie Espagnole on this album was recorded in the atmospheric monastery La Cartuja de la Sierra, 80 km north of Seville, where birds twittering in the ruins can be heard in quiet passages.

Lalo's Fantaisie Norvégienne, originally a concert fantasy for violin and orchestra, was also written for Pablo de Sarasate, a Spanish violin virtuoso.
Performer Biography
Lars Hannibal, the guitarist on this album, formed a duo with his wife, recorder player Michala Petri, in 1992, and they have since toured worldwide and released several CDs.

Folk music from various countries was a significant inspiration for Edouard Lalo, the composer, with traditional Norwegian cattle-calls and melodies appearing in his Fantaisie Norvégienne.

Kim Sjøgren, one of the performers, became the youngest ever leader of the Royal Danish Orchestra at the age of 22 and held the position for ten years.
