The artistic supervisor of this recording project, Giorgio Benati, was in personal contact with Jean Langlais between 1981 and 1984 and had the opportunity to study with him.
Instruments
The organs used for this recording are all Italian-built, including instruments by Ruffatti, Tamburini-Bonato, Daniele Michelotto, Diego Bonato, Balbiani-Mascioni, and Mascioni.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Jean Langlais, who continued composing even after a stroke affected his ability to read and write, aimed to constantly renew his musical style, stating that 'A composer must know how to belie his reputation.'
Composer Biography
Jean Langlais succeeded César Franck and Charles Tournemire as the titulaire (chief organist) of Sainte-Clotilde in Paris in 1945.
