François-André Danican Philidor, the composer, wrote Le Soldat Magicien in 1760, the same year he married his cousin Angélique Henriette Richer.

Guillaume Gutierrez, who plays M. Argant, is a trained violinist and also performs the alto part on stage, showcasing the artistic flexibility of Les Monts du Reuil.

The ensemble Les Monts du Reuil was founded in 2007 by Hélène Clerc-Murgier (harpsichord) and Pauline Warnier (cello), who previously played in major European baroque orchestras.
Instruments
A French two-manual Ducornet harpsichord, loaned by Hélène Dufour and the CRR de Reims, was used for this recording.
