The album is divided into two discs: the first features traditional nursery rhymes and songs, while the second showcases 'learned' music inspired by childhood, including two original creations.
Compositional Technique
The arrangements on the first disc utilize polyphony, ranging from 4 to 16 voices, and incorporate unexpected rhythms and musical effects to refresh familiar tunes.
Album & Artwork
The album title, "Les Doudous Lyriques" (Lyrical Comforters), originated from a shared memory of early musical wonder and the desire to present it to young children.
Album & Artwork
The album features illustrations by Laurine Lesaint, a Belgian comic strip artist, who also created the mascot for Les Doudous Lyriques, a little ginger cat.
Recording & Production
The album was recorded over two weekends in October 2017 at the studio of Les Petits Chanteurs d'Asnières-sur-Seine, also known as Les Poppys.
