Airat Ichmouratov, a Muslim-born musician, has toured the world for twenty years playing klezmer music as a clarinettist with the Montreal band Kleztory.

The front cover artwork for this CD was commissioned from Elena Chatokhina by Airat Ichmouratov and was inspired by Stefan Zweig's novella 'Brief einer Unbekannten' (Letter from an Unknown Woman).

Ichmouratov's Concerto Grosso No. 1 was commissioned by Jean-François Rivest, Alexandre Da Costa, and the Orford Arts Centre, who premiered it on July 15, 2011.
