Liadov's cantata on Schiller's The Bride of Messina, his first publicly performed work, was a brilliant success and led to his appointment as a teacher at the St Petersburg Conservatory.

Critical Reception

Anatol Liadov, the composer of this album's music, suffered significant neglect after his death in 1914, with many people today unfamiliar with his name or works.
