Paul Kletzki, the conductor on this album, was born Paweł Klecki in Łódź, Poland, in 1900 and began his musical career as a violinist at age fifteen.

This album is a live recording from a charity concert held on September 7, 1946, at the Lucerne Festival, with net proceeds split between Polish children's aid and Swiss musicians' relief.
