Borys Lyatoshynsky, a Ukrainian composer, grew up during a short-lived 'Ukrainian Renaissance' of writers, artists, musicians, choreographers, and philosophers.

Lyatoshynsky aimed to create a musical partner for the poetry in his songs, rather than simply music with words, with the melody shaped by the sound and sense of the words.
Composer Biography
Lyatoshynsky studied law at the University of Kiev but also joined the composition class of Reinhold Glière, who became his lifelong friend and mentor.

This album was recorded in January 2009 in The Academy of Choral Arts, Moscow, with Alexander Volkov as producer-engineer.
