Recording & Production

This recording of Wind, Sand & Stars is dedicated to Oliver, the 'Bright Star' of the Khoo family, who played an instrumental role in commissioning the work.

Composition History

The work Allaqi, featured on this album, was commissioned by Chamber Music Kelowna and CBC Radio for the acclaimed St. Lawrence String Quartet and received the 2011 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Composition.

The Archytas Ensemble, an international roster of world-class chamber musicians, officially formed in 2016, with some members having known each other since childhood.

The Archytas Ensemble takes its name from Archytas, a Greek philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, statesman, and strategist, who is credited with being the first to quantify the distance between a semi-tone in music.

Composer Biography

Marcus Goddard is an award-winning composer and an internationally respected trumpet player, serving as Composer in Association and Associate Principal Trumpet with the Grammy and Juno Award-winning Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
