Performer Biography
Emily Ondracek-Peterson, the solo violinist on this album and first violinist of the Voxare String Quartet, made her solo debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at age 16.

Composition History
Mark Nowakowski's String Quartet No. 2 'Grandfather Songs' includes a quote from Henryk Górecki's 'Songs are Sung' as an elegy, inspired by Górecki's death.
Instruments
The electronic accompaniment for 'Blood, Forgotten' features digitally manipulated violin recordings played by Marcin Arendt on a violin that survived a concentration camp.
Composition History
Mark Nowakowski's String Quartet No. 1 'Songs of Forgiveness' was completed after a meeting with legendary Polish composer Henryk Górecki, which renewed Nowakowski's creative spirit.
