Mieczysław Weinberg, the composer, was born in Warsaw in 1919 and began performing publicly as a pianist at age ten in the theater where his father, Samuel Weinberg, worked as a conductor, composer, and violinist.

Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, the soprano on this album, has won numerous awards including the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Award for 'Best Female Singer' and the Award of the Mayor of Wrocław for 'promoting Wrocław on Polish and international opera stages.'
