Violeta Vicci, the album's performer, is a solo violinist, violist, vocalist, and composer of Spanish-Swiss descent.
Recording & Production
The album was recorded at Space Mountain Studios in Spain from November 7-12, 2018, with Jon Alexander Audio handling recording, editing, mixing, and mastering.
Album & Artwork
The album title, Mirror Images, is inspired by the juxtaposition of Bach and Ysaÿe, two violin giants whose sonatas and partitas were written two centuries apart.
Instruments
For this recording, Violeta Vicci plays a 1725 Alessandro Gagliano violin for the Bach Partita and a 2015 David Bagué i Soler violin for all other pieces.
Interpretation
Violeta Vicci moves seamlessly between violin, viola, and solo voice on this album, seeking different ways to portray raw expression.
Recording & Production
The album's concept is the culmination of intensive musical work achieved through regular coaching with Christoph Schlüren, a conductor, musicologist, and mentor.
Instruments
The viola used on this recording, a CH. J. B. Collin-Mézin, was kindly loaned to Violeta Vicci by Pro Arte Stringed Instruments.
