Jules Mouquet, born in Paris in 1867, studied composition at the city's Conservatoire and later became a professor of Harmony and Composition there.

Jules Mouquet won the prestigious Prix de Rome for composition in 1896 with his cantata Melusine, and the Prix Chartier for chamber music in 1907.
Performer Biography
Sara Ligas, the flutist on this recording, teaches flute at the Nicola Sala Conservatoire in Benevento and performs with several chamber ensembles, including Duo Mouquet with Luca Nurchis.
Critical Reception
Jules Mouquet has largely disappeared from today's musical landscape, and this album aims to rectify his 'unjustified neglect'.
