Miltiadis Moumoulidis, the soloist on this album, is a Greek clarinetist who began his musical education in Russia and later studied in Thessaloniki and Belgium.

Mozart composed his Clarinet Concerto and Quintet for the basset clarinet, an instrument with an extended lower range, which was invented by Theodore Lotz.

Composition History

The original score of Mozart's Clarinet Concerto has been lost, and the oldest surviving version was published posthumously in 1801.
