Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major, KV 297B, originally written in 1778, mysteriously disappeared before its first performance and only reappeared in 1860.

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A major, KV 622, was composed in October 1791, only weeks before his death, and was written for his friend Anton Stadler, a fellow freemason.
Instruments
The Clarinet Concerto, KV 622, was written for the basset clarinet, an instrument developed around 1788 by Theodor Lotz, which had an extended lower range and a rounded bell.
Critical Reception
The Sinfonia Concertante's attribution to Mozart was questioned for a long time due to its mysterious reappearance in 1860 with a clarinet replacing the flute, but musicologists now largely accept it.

This album features the very first world recording of the 'legendary' version of the Sinfonia Concertante, KV 297B, performed on historic instruments.
