Mozart's Oboe Concerto, K 314, was originally composed for Giuseppe Ferlendis but became a 'great sensation' and 'cheval de bataille' for Friedrich Ramm, who performed it five times by February 1778.

Performer Biography
Alexei Ogrintchouk, the oboist on this album, has been principal oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Amsterdam, since 2005 and previously held the same position with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra at age 20.

Mozart became friends with oboist Friedrich Ramm during his 1777 visit to Mannheim, praising Ramm's 'fine tone' in a letter to his father.
