Mozart's music, particularly works from the mid-1780s onwards, often bewildered his 18th-century contemporaries due to its richness, intricacy, and emotional ambivalence.
Recording & Production
This is Paul Lewis's first recording for Hyperion, though he has since gone on to perform and record a complete cycle of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas.
Critical Reception
The G minor Piano Quartet K478 was considered too difficult to be played by amateurs, leading the publisher Franz Anton Hoffmeister to cancel the commission for two more quartets.
