The Sinfonia Concertante in E flat is Mozart's only authentic contribution to the sinfonia concertante genre, a type of three-movement work with multiple soloists dialoguing with the orchestra.

Performer Biography
Gordan Nikolić, a violinist and artistic director, was appointed Leader of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1997 and has been Artistic Director of the Nederlands Kamerorkest (Netherlands Chamber Orchestra) since 2004.
Compositional Technique
Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante is the only concerto he composed for the viola, an instrument he loved to play, and he used scordatura (tuning the viola a semitone higher) for a more transparent sound.
