Mozart's primary instrument was the piano, and he did not even own a violin when he died, preferring the viola for chamber music.

Composition History

Musicologists Wolfgang Plath and Alan Tyson established that Violin Concerto No. 1, K. 207, was composed in 1773, with the others in 1775, correcting earlier tampered dates.

Composition History

Three other 'Mozart violin concertos' (K. 268, K. 271a, and K. 294a 'Adelaide') are not considered authentic, with K. 294a being a forgery by the Casadesus brothers.
