Composer's Artistic Vision

Yehudi Menuhin felt a greater affinity with Mozart than any other composer, describing it as a connection "as child to child and as innocence to innocence."

Recording & Production

During the recording sessions in Paris, Fred Gaisberg of 'His Master's Voice' used thick wax discs, which could only hold about four-and-a-half minutes of music per record.

Performer Biography

Yehudi Menuhin, the violinist on this recording, considered Georges Enesco, who conducts two of the concertos, his great teacher and an extraordinary musician.

Recording & Production

The cadenzas for the three concertos on this album were composed by Sam Franko, Enesco, and Paul Hindemith respectively, and were dedicated to Yehudi Menuhin.

Composition History

The 'Adélaïde' Concerto, performed on this album, was later discovered to be a mystification work by Marius Casadesus, rather than a genuine Mozart composition.
