Feliks Nowowiejski, an eminent Polish composer and organ virtuoso, studied in Regensburg and Berlin and later became the artistic director of the Cracow Music Society.

The good state of preservation of the Franz Eggert organ in Berlin allowed the performers to realize the composer's original intentions for the registration of his Christmas carol fantasies.
Instruments
The organ used for this recording is the Franz Eggert organ in Berlin's Herz-Jesu-Kirche, which was built in 1899 and underwent a full restoration completed in 2004.
