Composer Biography
Beethoven dedicated his Piano Trio Op. 70 No. 1 to Countess Marie Erdödy, who helped him secure a 'musical pension' to ensure his artistic independence.
Historical Context
At the time of writing his Piano Trio Op. 70 No. 1, Beethoven was also working on Symphonies Nos. 5 and 6, and an opera based on Shakespeare's Macbeth, which remained a fragment.
Composition History
For its 10th anniversary, the Oberon Trio collaborated with Iranian-Swedish composer Mansoor Hosseini to arrange Mendelssohn's Scherzo from A Midsummer Night's Dream for piano trio.

Felix Mendelssohn's family were great fans of Shakespeare, regularly performing his plays in private circles.

The Oberon Trio chose their name from Oberon, the King of the Elves in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, embodying metamorphosis, play, and creativity.
Composition History
The album combines two anniversaries: the Oberon Trio's 10th anniversary and the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death in 2016.
