Performer Biography
Katharina Bäuml, a shawm player, has specialized in both early and contemporary music, and with her ensemble 'Capella de la Torre' has released 24 CD recordings and received ECHO Klassik Awards in 2016 and 2017.
Instruments
The shawm, a double reed instrument from the 14th century, represents the spirit and playing techniques of the Renaissance on this album, while the accordion represents the sound world of New Music.
Interpretation
The ensemble Mixtura, consisting of Katharina Bäuml (shawm) and Margit Kern (accordion), combines medieval or Renaissance music with newly commissioned contemporary music.
Composer Biography
Francesco Landini, an Italian composer from the Trecento era, was a universal genius who studied astrology, mathematics, poetry, and music, and was an organist and instrument builder, despite losing his eyesight early in life due to smallpox.

The album title, "Omaggio a Francesco," translates to "Homage to Francesco," referring to the central figure of the album, Francesco Landini.
