Antoni Wit, the conductor, studied conducting with Henryk Czyz at the Academy of Music in Kraków and also graduated in law from Jagiellonian University.

Krzysztof Penderecki, the composer, first gained recognition at the Warsaw Autumn Festivals of 1959 and 1960, quickly becoming part of the European avant-garde.
Composer's Artistic Vision
During the mid-1970s, Penderecki's involvement with tradition deepened, leading him to internalize the post-Romantic tradition and combine it with his earlier 'sonorist' musical language.
