Dina Ugorskaja, the pianist, was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) into an artistic Jewish family and fled to Germany in 1990 due to antisemitic threats.
Composer Biography
Prokofiev and Shostakovich both studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with many of the same teachers and possessed outstanding piano talent.
